What is CLEP?
The College Level Examination Program or CLEP is a credit-by-exam program offered by College Board. High school students, college students, and even those who are not currently students may earn college credit by passing a CLEP examination.
Benefits of CLEP
Taking CLEP exams is an affordable way of gaining college credits for the knowledge and skills you already have (or will get by studying for this exam). Most CLEP exams have computer-based testing and are offered by most university testing centers in the U.S.
CLEP exams only cost $80 plus a $0 – $30 testing center fee and give between 3 to 12 college credits each! Taking CLEP exams is a great way to save time and money.
College Board currently offers 33 CLEP exams at 1700 testing centers and military bases. CLEP exams cover material taught in 1st and 2nd year college core classes.
Please note that only colleges may grant credit toward a degree for a given CLEP exam. Colleges’ CLEP policies differ. — Some colleges grant credits for all CLEP exams whereas others only grant credits for a few CLEP exams or none at all. Double-check CLEP credit policies at your university before taking an exam.
